Steps to getting your license
Step 1: Make sure you are eligible to obtain your Texas LTC. (The state does not refund you
if you are not eligible)

Step 2: Take a LTC course from an approved State Certified Instructor to obtain your
LTC-100 form (This form is valid for 2 years from completion date of class)

Step 3: Go to the Texas DPS website: http://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/LTC/index.htm

Step 4: Click on the Online Services tab to start your application.

Step 5: You will schedule your fingerprint appointment during the application process.
​
Step 6: Pay the state fees for the license and fingerprint appointment (see fee schedule) or
upload documents for alternative fees schedule.

Step 7: Upload your copy of the LTC-100 to the DPS site.
​
Step 8: Wait for DPS to conduct your background check and issue your license.
​
DPS will notify you if there is a problem with your application.
